Mission and Vision
The OMU Department of Neurology is dedicated to preventing, curing, and improving the lives of people with neurological diseases through patient care, research, and education. Currently, 23 residents are continuing their education in our clinic. Today, it has trained 53 neurology specialists in different parts of the country. The Department of Neurology actively participates in International Multicenter Phase III Clinical Studies for the development of new drugs for Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis diseases, and Cerebrovascular diseases.
The OMU Department of Neurology boasts a comprehensive, state-of-the-art facility with 31 inpatient clinic beds and 15 intensive care unit (ICU) beds. This specialized department is dedicated to diagnosing, treating, and caring for patients with various neurological disorders and conditions. With 31 inpatient clinic beds, our Neurology Department offers a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients requiring observation, evaluation, and treatment. The clinic beds are staffed by highly trained and experienced medical professionals equipped to provide the highest standard of care for patients with neurological issues. In addition to the inpatient clinic beds, the department also features a specialized Neurology Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 15 beds. The ICU is designed to cater to patients with acute and critical neurological conditions, where close monitoring, specialized treatments, and constant attention are essential. A dedicated team of neurointensivists staff our ICU and critical care nurses skilled in managing the unique needs of patients with neurological disorders. Neuro-interventional procedures, which encompass acute stroke treatment and carotid stenting, are performed at the OMU Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center (working 7/24h) OMU Neuroimmunology Laboratory is a specialized research facility dedicated to studying the complex interaction between the nervous and immune systems. A neuroimmunology laboratory's primary purpose is to research the relationship between the nervous system and the immune system. Neuroimmunology laboratories often focus on studying autoimmune diseases of the nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica (NMO), Myasthenia Gravis (MG), Paraneoplastic syndrome, Autoimmune encephalitis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome.
The OMU Department of Neurology outpatient clinic is a cornerstone of comprehensive care for patients with neurological disorders. With 30 patients under its care on any given day, the clinic serves as a hub of expertise, providing a wide range of services, including EEG and EMG neurophysiological investigations.
OMU Department of Neurology is a specialized medical department focused on diagnosing and treating disorders related to the nervous system. There are typically major subspecialties or focus areas, each dealing with specific aspects of neurological health in outpatient clinics.
