Previous heads of the department were Prof. Dr. Aziz Fuat Göksel, Prof. Dr. Aysen ÖZKAN and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Rifat ŞAHİN. Prof. Dr. Ömer BÖKE currently serves as the head of the department. 58 residents completed their education up to now. Currently, five faculty members work in the department, including three professors and two associate professors.
Services Provided There are two units in the department: the service section where inpatients are treated and the outpatient clinic section. There are 32 beds in the semi-open service section. Mostly first-year residents work in the service under the supervision of a senior resident, and faculty members serve as service consultants at regular intervals. The service door is locked and under the supervision of a security guard. While service rooms are used as bedrooms at night, they turn into living spaces during the day. There is also a large shared living area in the service. Various meetings are held in this area. Additionally patients can watch TV or play games together in this area. In another hall, various activities (knitting, candle making, handicrafts, wood painting, painting) can be done under the supervision of a teacher. Approximately 250 patients are hospitalized in the service annually. Modified electroconvulsive treatment can be applied in the service, accompanied by a mobile anesthesia team and in a room designed for this application. In the outpatient treatment unit, general outpatient clinic services are provided in six separate rooms. There are rooms for six faculty members in the same unit. Faculty members can see patients in their own rooms. In the outpatient treatment unit, special branch psychiatry outpatient clinic services are provided in the field of Sexual Dysfunctions and Early Psychotic Disorders. To admit patients to private branch outpatient clinics, it is sufficient to make an appointment at the general outpatient clinic. While private branch polyclinics are carried out under the responsibility of certain faculty members, general polyclinic services are carried out alternately under the consultancy and supervision of a faculty member. Consultations requested by other departments throughout the hospital are evaluated by a senior resident under the responsibility of a faculty member who changes at regular intervals.
A psychologist (Arzu Alptekin Aker) works in the clinic. Psychometric evaluation is carried out by the psychologist in the outpatient treatment unit. Application Method Our general polyclinics work by appointment.
